A Lovely Pause

The anger, the righteousness

The evil and greed

It's on everyone's mind.

It's all over my feed.

Some people crumble

in anger and fear

Others try building,

A new future is near.

As followers of Christ,

We reach for our Savior

But what does that look like?

What do we favor?

Are we ranting and raving

& Telling others how so?

Are we cowering and hiding,

Waiting for it to all go?

Or are we trying to listen

For a place we can serve?

Are we loving our neighbor?

Do we have the nerve?

If someone asks for our cloaks

Will we give them our shirts?

Even if it's someone we don't like?

Even if it hurts?

A relationship with Jesus

Will show you the way.

He asks, “Follow Me”

What will you say?

Pick up your cross,

It's not about you.

You must die,

So He can shine through.

Your emotions don't matter,

Only how you can serve.

Live out your purpose,

It's more than you deserve.

So put aside your ego,

Throw away your disguise.

Vulnerability will lead you down the path of the wise.
