The Defeat of Demons
A small child so innocent and trusting
falls into your arms, not aware of the lusting.
She looks at you with eyes alight,
not knowing the betrayal and lifelong blight
that your mind is planning.
This game you play of falling and catching,
building her trust, hugging, and laughing.
How was she to know you were a monster in a mask?
That her world would shatter, because of your past,
the cycle continues on damning.
Was it all a game? Did you not know
that your demons would eventually show?
They would attack her too, for the rest of her life
Do you even care of all of the strife
that you have inflicted?
You built the trust. You showed the love
You created the relationship, then soiled the dove.
Her wings were shiny, white, and new
but with your evil, you soaked her through
and gifted her a life restricted.
It’s not fair, but I have grown stronger
the wicked you gave me, I accept it no longer.
I am not that little girl anymore
I’ve won many battles, but I’m still fighting this war.
Freedom is mine now.
My wings may be tattered, my confidence tore
My flight may be slow and shaky, but I am learning to soar.
I have learned my faith is stronger than your demon
the wasteland you forged, became my Garden of Eden.
What enters, only I allow.
As my flight takes an upward turn,
I’ll tell my story and in return
I’ll share my growth with the misbegotten
and your name, mister, will be forgotten.
